"Does Where You Live Affect How You Age?"
January 24, 2008
ATLANTA – Peachtree Hills Place, a premiere Buckhead retirement community is excited to welcome Dr. Roger Landry, a doctor of preventive medicine specializing in healthy aging, to discuss the impact of how and where one lives on aging. His talk, "Does Where You Live Affect How You Age?" is hosted by Isakson Barnhart, the award-winning developer of residential communities for seniors offering a continuum of care, including Park Springs in Stone Mountain and Peachtree Hills Place in Buckhead. The program will be held from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. on February 12, 2008, at the Capital City Club Brookhaven ballroom, 53 W. Brookhaven Drive NE, and is free and open to the public. Free, valet parking is provided.
In this unique presentation, Landry reveals some surprising facts from research on aging, suggesting that where and how we live does indeed strongly influence how we age. Specifically addressing living options, he extols continuing care retirement communities (CCRCs) as a worthy choice demonstrating multiple research-proven benefits. Landry will also share 10 ways to age successfully and how that is incorporated into where a person lives.
"We have always been under the impression that how and where we live impacts how we age," said Andy Isakson, Managing Partner of Isakson Barnhart. "We are very excited to hear about scientific studies from an expert in the field. Dr. Landry specializes in empowering older adults to take control of their own aging, and this powerful message is a value that we share at Peachtree Hills Place."
Trained at Tufts University School of Medicine and Harvard School of Public Health, Landry has earned both M.D. and Masters in Public Health degrees and is board certified in two specialties by the American Board of Preventive Medicine. He was a flight surgeon in the Air Force for twenty-two years, retiring as the Chief Flight Surgeon of the Air Force and a full colonel. After retirement from the Air Force, Landry was the Director of Performance and Preventive Health Services for Wyoming Valley Health Care System in Wilkes-Barre, Pa., until 2000, when he founded All Ways Healthy, a consulting firm specializing in population health. For the past six years, Landry has focused on healthy aging in older adults as a lecturer, media consultant and author. He is president of Masterpiece Alliance Foundation, Inc., a not-for-profit organization dedicated to helping older adults age successfully.

Isakson Barnhart is Georgia's developer of nationally recognized, award-winning Buckhead retirement communities for those ages 55 and over. The company's vision to provide amenity-rich, independent living for discerning adults was born out of the personal experiences of the family of Ed and Julia Isakson after their difficult search for a Buckhead retirement community that would provide an active lifestyle combined with on-site health care. This mission manifested itself in Park Springs, the company's flagship property in Stone Mountain. Park Springs was nationally recognized by the 50+ Housing Council of the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) as the recipient of the 2005 Platinum Award for best large CCRC as well as the Gold Award for interior design. Now, Isakson Barnhart introduces another award-winning residential Buckhead retirement community in Peachtree Hills Place, named the best "On the Boards" large CCRC by the same group in 2006. Isakson Barnhart has carefully selected Life Care Services, LLC, the leading management company of senior communities in the nation, to partner in the planning and management of Peachtree Hills Place and Park Springs.
